NOTE:  THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ARE NOT SUPPLIED WITH THIS EXHAUST SYSTEM.

DANGER WARNING:  SHOULD THE PURCHASER DECIDE TO INSTALL THIS EXHAUST PRODUCT AT HOME, BE WARNED THAT PLEASURE CAR OR LIGHT DUTY TRUCK/VAN “BUMPER” JACKS ARE INTENDED FOR EMERGENCY USE ONLY.  THE USE OF FRAME CONTACT JACK STANDS IN CONJUNCTION WITH A FLOOR JACK AS MAIN SUPPORT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO MINIMIZE ACCIDENTAL DROPPING OF A VEHICLE WHILE THE INSTALLATION PROCEEDS.

    CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE SECTION 27156 PROHIBITS THE ADVERTISING, OFFERING FOR SALE, OR INSTALLATION OF ANY DEVICE WHICH MODIFIES A VEHICLE’S EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM.  THIS PRODUCT IS  THEREFORE NOT LEGAL FOR SALE OR USE IN CALIFORNIA ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH CATALYTIC CONVERTERS.



INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

NOTE:  DO NOT TIGHTEN ANY CLAMPS OR NUTS UNTIL THE LAST STEP!!

1)  REMOVE THE OLD EXHAUST SYSTEM.  SAVE THE OLD SLEEVES (IF NECESSARY) FROM THE ORIGINAL FRONT PIPES.  REMOVE THE OLD HANGERS.

2)  INSTALL THE LEFT (#16546--85 DEG. BEND) AND RIGHT (#16507--45 DEG. BEND) MANIFOLD PIPES USING THE NEW GASKETS AND INCLUDED FLANGES, AND THE OLD SLEEVES IF NECESSARY.  TIGHTEN ONLY ENOUGH TO HOLD IN PLACE.

3)  INSTALL THE LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT EXTENSION PIPES TO THE MANIFOLD PIPES USING 2-1/4” CLAMPS.  NOTE:  FOR VEHICLES REQUIRING CATALYTIC CONVERTERS TO MEET EPA GUIDELINES, CONVERTER PART # 73-7774 OR EQUIVALENT SHOULD BE INSTALLED ON THE MANIFOLD PIPES.  SEE DRAWING.  CONVERTERS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS KIT.

4)  INSTALL THE MUFFLERS ONTO THE FRONT EXTENSION PIPES USING 2-1/4” CLAMPS.  (THOSE WITH GLASS PACKS, THE EXHAUST SHOULD FLOW OVER THE LOUVERS AND NOT DIRECTLY INTO THEM FOR PROPER SOUND).  ROTATE THE FRONT EXTENSION PIPES TO CLEAR THE TRANSFER CASE, DRIVESHAFT, AND FRAME.  OVER THE FRONT OR REAR OF THE MUFFLERS YOU WILL FIND A CROSS-MEMBER OR BODY MOUNT THAT A HOLE CAN BE DRILLED FOR A 5/16” BOLT TO HOLD AN LB7 HANGER IN PLACE.  ATTACH THE LB7 TO THE FRAME USING A 5/16” BOLT, GROMMET, AND NUT, AND CLAMP TO THE MUFFLER USING A 2-1/4” CLAMP.  

5)  FOR BLAZER AND JIMMY, YOU MAY NEED TO TRIM OFF FROM THE REAR OF THE #15527 EXTENSION PIPES, AND POSSIBLY OFF THE INLET OF THE LEFT AND RIGHT TAIL PIPES IF NECESSARY.

6)  INSTALL THE LEFT (#8807L) AND RIGHT (#8806R) TO THE MUFFLERS USING A 2-1/4” CLAMP.  

7)  INSTALL THE TAIL PIPE EXTENSIONS TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT TAIL PIPES.  TRIM TO YOUR DESIRED LENGTH.  ABOVE THE CONNECTING POINT OF THE TAIL PIPE AND THE TAIL PIPE EXTENSION, DRILL A 5/16” HOLE IN THE FRAME.  INSTALL AN LB7 HANGER USING A 5/16” X 1-1/2”  BOLT, NUT, AND GROMMET AND CLAMP THE HANGER TO THE TWO PIPES.  AN EXTRA THU900 SWINGER HANGER, NUT, 5/16” X 1” BOLT, FENDER WASHER, LOCK WASHER, AND CLAMP HAVE BEEN INCLUDED FOR EACH SIDE OF THE SYSTEM.  USE AS NECESSARY ON EACH SIDE.  

8)  MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE PARTS OF THE SYSTEM ARE CLEAR OF FRAME MEMBERS, ALL HOSES, SUSPENSION, AND BRAKE AND FUEL LINES.  STARTING AT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS, TIGHTEN ALL CONNECTIONS AND NUTS.  MAKE SURE ALL PARTS   ARE CLEAR AND WILL NOT LEAK OR RATTLE.  AFTER SEVERAL DAYS OF DRIVING RETIGHTEN ALL BOLTS.
