NOTE:  do not tighten any clamps or nuts and bolts until the last step!!  Before cutting any pipes it is a good idea to lay out all the included pipes along side the vehicle and get a good idea of how the pipes will hang on the vehicle.  Please read the instructions fully and thoroughly before you begin.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1)  Remove the old exhaust system from behind the converter, leaving the converter, front y-pipe off the manifolds, and the O.E. hanger mounts and the front O.E. hanger on the truck.  Note:  we recommend pulling the spare tire for this system.  If you would like to keep the spare tire in the original position, see paragraph two of step 2).

2)  The extension pipe will need to be cut for those without a 2WD long box truck.  For 2WD short box and 4wd long box, cut 17” off the front pipe from the end that is not expanded.  For 4WD short box, cut 34” off the front pipe from the end that is not expanded.  Install the extension pipe to the converter using a 2-1/2” clamp.  Be sure to line up the notch on the pipe to the O.E. converter.

To keep the spare tire in its original location, you may need to trim off up to an additional 4” from the extension pipe.  This will move the system forward.  You will then need to tie off the brake line that is in the way of the passenger side tail pipe at the rear differential.

3)  Install the inlet of the y-pipe to the extension pipe using a 2-1/2” clamp.

4)  Use a 2-1/2” clamp to connect the O.E. front hanger (re-use old hanger) to the extension pipe.

Note:  an additional THU900 swinger hanger has been included for those who do not have the O.E. front hanger, or for those who prefer how the system hangs with the swinger hanger.  To use the swinger hanger instead of the O.E. hanger, locate a hole in the frame above the extension pipe (drill a 5/16” hole if none is present).  Bolt the swinger hanger to the frame using a 5/16” x 1” bolt, nut, lock and fender washer.  Clamp the swinger hanger to the extension pipe using a 2-1/2” clamp.

5)  Install the left tail pipe (5 bends) to the y-pipe using a 2-1/4” clamp.

6)  Install a THU900 swinger hanger to the frame (using a 5/16” x 1” bolt, nut, lock washer, fender washer) above the left tail pipe between the last two bends of the tail pipe.  If no mounting hole is present, drill a 5/16” hole in the frame.  Use a 2-1/4” clamp to clamp the swinger hanger to the left tail pipe.

7)  Install the right tail pipe (6 bends) to the y-pipe using a 2-1/4” clamp.

8)  Install a THU900 swinger hanger to the frame (using a 5/16” x 1” bolt, nut, lock washer, fender washer) above the right tail pipe after the last bend of the tail pipe.  If no mounting hole is present, drill a 5/16” hole in the frame.  Use a 2-1/4” clamp to clamp the swinger hanger to the right tail pipe.

9)  Trim the tail pipes to your desired length (be sure to account for about 3” of the inlet of the tip).

10)  Install the tips to the tail pipes using 2-1/4” clamps.

11)  Tighten all clamps and bolts and check the system for rattles and clearance of all brake and fuel lines, chassis components, and spare tire if applicable.
